Strong Doesn't Mean Boys Poem by Sanna Farooqi

Strong Doesn't Mean Boys

Everyday I wake up do something new
The chances of me finding a way are few
I get up and trace the signs
But God has made me act like I am still nine

I have tried enough to be sensible like a man
Truth here I am ton more sensible in just what I am
Enough of changing my words into poems now it's the time to tell them that strong doesn't mean boys

I cannot sync someone else's beat
When the fire burning in me has its own heat
I cannot bind someone else's leg
My self respect is slanting down a wedge

I have tried enough to bend on my knees
The person inside me has been stung by bees
Now it's the time to get up, feel a new breeze
And write my story on these fallen leaves

Enough of being the best for everyone
Now it's the time to be someone you don't like me that's your choice
But people now I have learnt to make some noise
