Struggling With What I Did

What would you do
If I told you I screwed up?
What would you say
If I asked for a second chance?
I know I hurt you
And everyone else around me
But if you only knew
How bad it was hurting me
There is not a minuet in the day
That I don't think about what I did
To hurt you so bad
Sometimes I wonder to myself
How could I sink so low,
And hurt the one I love so much?
And no matter how much I wish I could take what I did back
I can't
And that's what kills me inside every day
Knowing what I did to you
And not being able to change it
No matter how bad I want to
I wish I could get you back
But that may never happen
Because I had to go and do something stupid
That broke your heart

A universal theme, I guess. I'm not totally sure this is poetry, but the measured pace of the lines creates great tension and a sense of repression. Nice work!
