Success Behind Sorrow Poem by Alleya Bennett

Success Behind Sorrow

Today I get stronger
Tomorrow I get smarter
I'll grow older
And I'll get wiser.

But behind all the good deeds
Is the deep dark secrets I keep
I throw them in the closet
Find a key and lock it

Wish I may
Wish I might
Someday I'll end up doing things right
Before it gets better
It has to get harder.
No, I am not cursed
I am hurt.

I run away from the pain
I stand out in the rain
My tears do not show
Neither does my sorrow

I stand like a soldier
Back straight
Chin up
Boots are buckled up
Standards high
And Eyes open wide.

I get stronger.
