Successors Poem by John Bannister Tabb

Successors

Says the Shadow to the Sun,
'When the victory is done
All the world that thou hast won
Will be mine!'

Says the Sun, 'My banner bright
May be folded for a night;
But anon with broader light
Shall it shine.'
