Suitcase Words Poem by Timmy Tubbs

Suitcase Words

Rating: 3.5

Gaze
It’s the word my brain says I should use for your stair
If you ask me, it just doesn’t compare
Beautiful
It’s the word clichéd and overused
The word is bruised
Tied to a liars speed bag
Amazing
That’s a word overused to describe dog tricks
A word used to describe a drugy's fix
Wonderful
This will have to do
It’s the closest one I can think to describe you
Caring
I’ll say this one imaging a blue ribbon on your chest
You do it best
Brilliant
This one accents amazing and turns the corner of
Mind-blowing
It’s when I think of us broken and dirty
It’s the one my brain uses when I think of the dark barrels
Filling the red cups
Turning you from beautiful, amazing, wonderful, caring, and brilliant into
Hopeless
It does this to all
Even to those who used to stand tall
Forgiveness
The word I feel, the only one I want to dance with
The slips so easily out of your mouth
And lies to my brown eyes
The only one to bend me back to “All right”

My heart got smart
You taught him well
He forgot the brains of a fool
He learned to feel through right and wrong
He let go of the brain's black heart
And started writing these perfect lyrics to my song
