Summer Poem by monica kaluag

Summer

As the summer heat penetrates through my skin
And the unexpected rains fall
I take the initiative to begin
An odyssey that's worth it all

Today there's no need to ponder
On yesterdays where sorrows exhale
But move on and grasp whatever
Can make my life a tale

Awake till the border of the sunrise
Asleep till the heat calms down
Away where joy will suffice
Leaving not too long a frown

I am the sanguine of the day
I have no space for melancholy
Because the summer spirit will not stay
And I need a sunlit story

Tomorrow I shall greet the bolts
Like i had not just slept that morning
I'll run across and nothing will halt
My journey with several beginnings

I shall walk along without looking back
I shall embrace each nanosecond
I may regret and I may crack
But I'll make it something to reckon
