Summer Camp Day 2 Poem by Maple Trail

Summer Camp Day 2

I took this poem to the balcony
held it between the airwaves
Why?
Because Autumn,
because it wants to fly again

Summer Camp Day 2

On the first day
groups of three were assigned
to work on projects
On day two we could choose
one person as our work mate

We chose each other
even though most teams/partners
were boy-boy or girl-girl that day

And while leaves turned
leaned on the bridge rails
watching the sparkles below

At the end of the week
back to our own towns
each to his/her school
backyard cookouts and such
 your family moving to Austria,
Australia was it?

Weeks slipped by and then POOF!
Decades unspooled barely tallied

 Aw, Mister Time,
you are such a treacherous trickster

Last night I dreamed that day again
and all morning at work
secretly holding back tears
wishing it were just beginning
