Summer Wind Poem by Chester Maynes

Summer Wind

The summer wind ended
Leaving the traces
Of the scorched bushes
In the wilderness
That was your love to me
Faded when I began
To build my dreams
Misunderstood my
Capabilities and purpose
You left me of
Insecurity and jealousy
You left me of
Shallow reasons
Broke my ego
What can I do?
Pain stilled my heart
To see myself growing
Not ease me
From loving you
Wanting not to
Stay unloved
Wanting not to
Live without hugs
Please come back
Not a time to beg
But all the wisdom
Do come back
Love binds our hearts
To joy, to security
Rain comes to wash
Traces of a wretched heart
Come back, my love
Come back
