Sunrise In Lubo Poem by Shola Balogun

Sunrise In Lubo

(with drums and cymbals)
I journeyed
Deep into the the circles
Of wind, with songs. We traversed the strange
Distance from Yamaltu Deba to Malamade
And came amongst the Tera people of Lubo,
We arrived the village at night
With songs for the natives
While the children trailed us in the dust
As they gathered to have a glimpse of that
Which we've brought; the children trailed dust
In their merry dance-
I remember other dances too
And the memories they bring. We arrived Lubo at night
With hearts full of booming songs
For the land
And as we made to leave, in the morn,
I saw the sun rise
Upon the brow of the dwellers.
