Superhuman Poem by Amber Carreon

Superhuman

Rating: 4.5

I've caught you from stories high;
And even let you see me fly;
Because I love you.

I've pulled you out from all the fires;
I've kept you safe from all the liars;
That's why you love me.

But...

What if I couldn't see through you?
What if my eyes were only blue?
How would you feel 'bout that my dear?

What if the S fell off my chest?
What if my powers went to rest?
How would you feel 'bout me my love?

I've ran towards danger to save you;
Although there's no us I've always been true;
Because I love you.

I've thrown out worlds to keep you safe;
I've blown up walls for your escape;
Thats why you love me.

But...

What if I couldn't see through you?
What if my eyes were only blue?
How would you feel 'bout that my dear?

What if the S fell off my chest?
What if my powers went to rest?
How would you feel 'bout me my love?
How would you feel 'bout a human?

Would you feel the way I've felt for years?
Would your love for me bring you to tears?
If we were in each others shoes,
Would you kiss all my lifelong scars?
And try to protect me from coming harm?

You reassure me...

If you couldn't see through me,
If your eyes could never even see,
I'd see you the same my dear.

If ever your heart fell out your chest,
And your whole body went to rest,
I would still cherish you my love.
I've always seen you as human.
