Surge Poem by Alejandro Torres

Surge

I feel the fire burn
Surging through these dead veins
Like in dreams
You surge
Against me
Sublime and subliminal
Flowing and ebbing
You were always debilitating
Like kryptonite
I feel an angel soft touch
Unsettling the layers of dust
That seem to have grown
On this barely beating heart
But the sad thing is
You aren’t here
Like you never would be
And I don’t know
If its my mind or the liquor
Playing tricks on me
Just like you did too
Centuries ago
When the ocean waves
Surged and crashed
Against the moon
The way in dreams
We do
