Surrendering Eternity

Did you not tell me once that
wherever I go you will find me?

The cast may be new but it’s the
same old story and you cannot
change the past when you vowed
to bequeath to me your memory
of love in all forever to come…

How could you rest your soul when
your heart still throbs into my own
as vibrant as it was many ages ago?

But perhaps I myself have grown
weary of two lifetimes and eternity.

Talk no more of endless love for it
only exists in the prose of the poet,
and I am a poet no longer as I have
outgrown the memory of who we
used to be…

You are now free my twin soul!
