Suspense Prevents My Fall Poem by Harlequin Rose

Suspense Prevents My Fall

Wherever I turn
whatever clock on whatever wall
the first one to come into view
the time is always now
and though I treat the night like a friend
it always betrays me in the end
and the longest day in history is upon me
it dawns like sunrise
and breaks like the day it used to be
from here there is nowhere to go but down
but suspense prevents my fall
what comes next is a mystery
an enigma,
a puzzle,
a riddle
so I give in
as I attempt to kill my expectations
and preconceived notions
they got me this far
but I hate to let them live
because in the end
all that has been proven means nothing
without the belief behind it.
