Swallow Your Pride Poem by Morimyth Weaver

Swallow Your Pride

Tell me, what do you get
from all of it?
An infinite hunger?
A sadistic wit?

Tell me, what's there to get
from all of it?
Every wish you conceive,
every motto and creed,
each betrayal, all your greed,
is part of you.

How can you justify
the efficiency of your
insatiable drive?
Will you get out alive?

Choke down the charcoal
to get a taste
of all the bridges you've burned.
Coax the poison
up and out your throat
to reveal the truth within.
This disaster crafted
with your own hands.

Swallow your Pride

Tell me, what will you make
of all of this
acute desperation?
Back stabbed and throat slit.

Tell me, what is it worth
to go on like this?
Assets all seized,
your people on their knees,
and yet they still plead for you.

How do you rationalize
the ruthlessness of your
insufferable pride?
Can you get out alive?

Choke down the charcoal
to get a taste
of all the bridges you've burned.
Coax the poison
up and out your throat
to reveal the truth within.
This disaster crafted
with your own hands.

Swallow your Pride

Just steal
Refuse to feel
As everyone kneels
You forget what's real
And it all
Becomes
Noise.

Swallow your Pride.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Prideful ownership of those around you is folly. Masking your true intentions to gain favor is folly. Treating a status with another as a job application is folly. Swallow your Pride, or choke on the truth. - 333
