Swamp Poem by Alex Adeoye

Swamp

O'swamp, o’ swamp
How I wish to have my way
Because I love u
I wish I could be favoured
I have trekked all night
Down this morning on bare foot
Now to the waiting palms of the scorching sun
The match is inevitable
You can’t play upon it like a game of scrabble

O” swamp o” swamp
How I wish to have my way
Because I love u
I will follow you, just lead me the bank
I want to smell the saint of river fish
The voice of frogs will ignite good memories
Though I have no water bottle
Even if I have one, would it be possible to trap experience?
I’m helpless,
I swear to stay for some days
I want to feel the damp under my sole
And let its pleasantries swept up to my head.
