It's possible there is another you
just as decent and giving and good.
There may even be one as true
who'd bless every life if she could.

It's possible that ferrets can fly
and that bats bemoan the night.
There are tales of monkeys that sigh
and of tomcats that never fight.

It's possible there's a rare being
who resides in a far-away clime.
Born with beauty that blesses seeing-
nearly the equal of you who are mine.

It's possible to think of a time hence
when life's mysteries will be unwound.
But for me the wait has no suspense-
one sweet as you will never be found.
