Sweet Thoughts Poem by Deja Noelle Rupp

Sweet Thoughts

Rating: 3.0

Cuddled in my blankets
The sound of rain lullaybying me to sleep
The moon's white light seaps through my tightly closed window creating shadows all around my room
My imagination
Imagines the worst
I roll over
Awake and full of trepidation
I hum a song
Drip drop, drip dropp up on the house top
Pitter patter, pitter patter on my window pane
I breath in deeply trying to get some sleep
My colorful changing night light makes me feel secure
And yet childish and innocent all at the same time
The dark
I've never particularity cared for especially when I'm alone
I grab my flash light next to my warm bed and shine it at my high ceiling taking my hand and making shapes and faces
I get bored
Throw the flashlight to the floor and play with my hair as I think about my day
It all goes back to him
Him and what he did to me
Him with a part of my heart
A part he never should of taken
I hate to think about this
So instead I eagerly think about spring break
California
The roaring ocean with its thunderous crashing waves
Enticing me in
Its golden sun kissing the swaying palm trees in the warm breeze
The feeling of wind rushing through your hair and shirt as you flip upside down on a roller coaster
Closing your eyes
Hearing the giggles
The screams
Taking my camera
Walking down the beach
Barefoot
As the sun sets
Leaving behind footprints
That disperse from the salty seas waves
Washing away any evidence of me ever being there
Wavy beach hair
Oceanside
My very favorite beach
Oceanside the beach anyone hardly ever goes to
Laying in the warm sand feeling it between my toes
Looking up into the star filled sky
Maybe even being blessed enough to find one that shoots across the sky
Sweet thoughts
I close my eyes while I drift off to sleep
As The sound of rain crashes outside
