Sweetheart Poem by Pradip Saikia

Sweetheart

You are a woman picking fossils in the darkness

In your heart
Shadow of the ruins
You want to cross over during the night
A razed town
River of dry rocks
Famished fields
Charred crematorium

Your favourite word
Kandahar
Of reserved love

I the refugee - your suitor
Under the spell of phantom
A boy pursuing dead moon

A neck full of necklace of snail shells
The lotus of your eyes
Cloud of a tress of hair
Let me touch

Your face in the mirror
Fragment of a star
