Swept Away Poem by Jacob Taylor

Swept Away

Rating: 5.0

The shock came instantly, against my own worn-out body.
I start to daze, as if clouds are covering my eyes, blocking all sight.
I hear the wind whispering to me… oh, so low,
It’s calling my name, but my strength is now gone.
The leaves are like hands, gracefully holding me, calming me, alone until my time is up.
I try to yell into the far off distance, but my chest is on fire, throat full of blood.
Crack! The thunder roars and I know I’m slipping away. I start to see flashes,
Mum, Dad, my little brother… all together, but I’m not there.
The last thing I said “I hate you all.” And I left. Ran away.
Now, I’m sorry for what I did;
The lies I told, the people I hurt,
As my life is gone… swept away in one bright flash
