Swimming Poem by Carmen TA

Swimming

Rating: 5.0

The brightest water shimmers in the light
The water shines with light, so blue and clear
All still before the competition starts
I grasp the block and wait to hear the call

Just then the whistle blows and I dive in
The time has come to show how fast I am
I take a stroke and I am flying high
The feeling of the water flowing by

I look both left and right but I am last
I pass the fourth and third, with no time left
Now tied for first and racing to the wall
I feel the wall and see if I have won

But I was not quite fast enough to win
I did not care, I beat my own best time
