Swirl Poem by Za7ra Sulaiman

Swirl

Grey and blue and fights and tunnels
Handcuffed to the spell I was under
For just one hour of sunshine

My friends tried, but I wouldn't hear it
Watch me daily disappearing
For just one glimpse of his smile
For just one second where it felt like mine

All those nights you kept me going
Swirled you into all of my poems
Like ink I couldn't wash off my skin
Like a thought that never learned to end

Grey and blue still follow me after
Through every corner, every chapter
Of things I said but didn't mean
Of places I went but wasn't seen

Handcuffed still, though the chain feels lighter
Still chasing something just a little brighter
Still breaking into pieces I don't show
Still loving things I should let go
