Sylvia Would Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Sylvia Would

In the early days of Sylvia
from across the southern sea
His life became a heaven on earth
of merriment and glee.
With pale skin the colour of ivory
and a pretty silken curl
~Sylvia would and Sylvia did~
Fall in love, in a kind of whirl.

A sparkling diamond he gave her
and an emerald ring to wear.
He heard the sound of wedding bells
as he gazed on the Altar there.
How sweetly Sylvia told him
that her heart was full of care
~Sylvia would and Sylvia did~
bring happiness beyond compare.
