Syria Poem by Ibrahim Ibn Salma

Syria

Connecting the past child to
The mother of the present,
From the passing of the
Imagination of the
Silent nights
Comes a nightmare to the awakened,

The night drops
Its dress to the rising
Rays of the sun,
And the shadow takes her
grief to the sands,

Does the dawn hear her cry?

A child of yesterday vanishes,
With no trace,
With no goodbye,

The new day, the future
Shatter the peace of yesterday,
Bewildered by what comes next;

Tears filling the oceans? ,
Blood painting the shores? ,
Or
No homes to go to? .
