Take Not Your Spirit

Adam, through sin felt quite alone –Gen.3: 8
God knew yet called his name –Gen.3; 9
God saw him crouch behind a stone
To hide his face in shame

Today, we too when found in sin
May think the Lord is blind
We think to God there’s no way in
No way his face to find

Like Miriam, in days gone by –Nu.12: 1-15
Her words were like a sword –Nu.12: 1
Rebuked, condemned, she thought to die –Nu.12: 14
A week without the Lord

Today, is yet a time of grace –2Co.6: 1-2
A time to cancel debt
If God would slap you on your face
Would you then not regret? –Nu.12: 14

With contrite heart, with spirit meek –Isa.66: 2
God’s promised man a way
His face is not too hard to seek
When on our knees we pray

King David thus, when fasting, prayed –Ps.51: 1-
“My shame I always see –Ps.51: 3
My God let not Your Spirit fade –Ps.51: 11
Nor turn Your face from me”

Be patient though, once prayers you’ve sent –Jas.5: 7-11
Think not, the Lord has left
Confess your shame, from sin repent –Pr.28: 13
Then wait, within the cleft –Ex.33: 22

God always knows the deeds we’ve done –Pr.15: 3
He sees our every thought –Pr.94: 11
That’s why to us He sent His Son –Lk.4: 18
That truth to life be taught…
