Take Time To Smell The Roses Poem by Donald McGillivray

Take Time To Smell The Roses

Take time to smell the roses,
their fragrance soft and sweet,
for life is not a race to run,
but a rhythm to complete.

Pause beneath the morning sun,
where dew-kissed petals gleam,
and listen to the whispered song
of dreams within the stream.

For in the rush of daily toil,
we often miss the grace,
the quiet moments heaven-sent,
to slow our hurried pace.

The roses bloom in patient trust,
unfolding day by day,
a gentle call to rest awhile,
and let the world delay.

Their thorns remind us tenderly
that beauty's often paired,
with trials that shape the heart's design,
and teach us how to care.

So take the time to smell the roses,
to breathe their sacred air,
for in their fleeting, fragile bloom,
God's presence lingers there.

And when the petals fade and fall,
their lesson still remains:
to live is not to grasp or strive,
but cherish each refrain.
