Taken For Granted Poem by Michael Kelsall

Taken For Granted

Rating: 5.0

From the moment of conception,
As two cells merge into one.
There's a spark of cosmic energy,
More amazing then the sun.

It's cell wall is entombing,
Creation soft vibration, so Devine.
A gift taken for granted,
So complex in its design.

With a twisted double helix,
The cell multiplies and divides.
With carful genetic stacking,
Now its human traits defined.

The act of procreation,
Gives a chance for life to start.
Measured by the metronomic symphony,
Of the ever beating heart.

In an instant it is certain,
There's life's force, trapped inside.
Powered by an auto rhythmic function,
Through which consciousness derives.

Without consultation,
It's existence has begun.
A daughter to a mother,
A father from a son.

From the moment of conception,
Whether accident or planned,
Your all that it relies on.
It's life is in your hands.

This is awesome. I am going to use this for an example for my students. So moving, yet raw reality filters through. I think you have a calling Michael.
