Taking It All In, Wounds That Resurface Poem by Samantha DeWitt

Taking It All In, Wounds That Resurface

All those words locked up inside
Wounds that resurface
While taking it in
I just smile and grin
Not with will
But with depressed feelings
And still
I find myself wanting
Wanting to bare
Wanting to give
Wanting to share
Wanting to live
But no matter how I may fall
I've learned that it's never good
To build a wall
No one knows
The hurt they've caused
Those gentle blows
They've never paused
Words, they think, are just mere words
But I know how words can be
Worse than strikes upon a body
When they say I'm stupid
And that I am no good
I just smile and grin
While taking it all in
Taking it in and trying to hide
All those words locked up inside
Wounds that resurface
