Tears Flow From My Eyes Poem by John Yaws

Tears Flow From My Eyes

I really can't believe it...
That you are really gone.
I told you that it had to be,
And now I'm here alone.

I dreamed of years together
And even then I knew-
That I was only dreaming,
And dreams do not come true

I'm sorry that I hurt you-
That I am hurting, too
You loved me, I am certain-
I also think you knew...

We treasured stolen moments-
We lived on borrowed time.
Like moths drawn to a candle...
Our lives became entwined.

I wonder if you know tonight-
The way my heart does ache.
And if you heart is hurting, too
As though it soon will break?

I lay there in the darkness-
And ask the futile, "Why's? "
And wonder what you're thinking,
As the tears flow from my eyes.
