Ten Years From Now

Rating: 5.0
Money saved will be gone,
spent or stolen from me
by those, I live with now,
but either way,
I will become a burden to anyone
that dares to get involved in my life,
residing now in a state-run
assisted living home.

My meals will be
institutionalized food served in
Styrofoam boxes off sanitized carts
being pushed room to room by
people doing community service
for half-ass crimes committed.
The food will always taste like shit.
but I will be grateful,
and a tear will roll down my cheek
each time I'm handed one.
