Frogs gather
Katydids croak
Geckos dance
On, over, and under my porch
The cat and dog
Play and chase with them
Bringing me presents
Of sticks and serpents
It was a spring year
And it felt prolonged through summer
Right until it became winter
When all the birds arrived
Eating up everything
And it feels longer still
