Texas Ranger Poem by Mark J. Schulte

Texas Ranger

If you need a solution, you go to the Man.
A jack of all trades - his motto: 'I can! '
When the vultures of crisis have come home to roost,
he's on the next plane with the problems deduced.
If that contract is lacking and the 'reps' are quite weak,
there's only one lawyerly recourse you'd seek.
The Senate is balking and you need the bill passed?
He's talked to them all and the votes are recast.

If anyone - anywhere - calls for a fix,
as they say down in Texas: 'One Riot, One Ricks.'

The Man's been around since before we recall.
Kelleher or Kelly...he'll outlast them all.
A Wagnerian mix of uber and man,
always possessing a true master-plan.
I know this is strange and slightly bizarre:
who knows what his responsibilities are? ?
Inchoate, aomebic, out-of-the-norm;
a truly Darwinian corporate life form.

But if anything - anywhere - calls for fix,
as they say down in Texas, 'One Riot, One Ricks.'

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is written, in a spirit of humor, for one of my clients. It is inspired by the unofficial motto of the Texas Rangers: 'One Riot, One Ranger'.
