Park Avenue Prayer Poem by Mark J. Schulte

Park Avenue Prayer

Rating: 5.0

Rev. George Witt is being installed today as pastor at St. Ignatius Loyola Church in New York City.

Peter to the Romans.
Paul to the gentile race.
Augustine to the Saints of Hippo.
But what of our sacred space?

Xavier to the Indies.
Borgia to the Christian elite.
We've got our own aqua-viva,
with Witt on 84th Street.

Lord, take away our riches.
Test us as Job, Kyrie.
But never leave us Witt-less;
it's not the Ignatian way.
