That Beautiful Girl. Poem by Steven Harris

That Beautiful Girl.

Standing at the bar
she walks in through the door
i've seen her so many times in here before
but i've never said a word
never even said hello
never even gave a her smile
she doesnt know who i am
she would never know my face in a crowd.

She stands next to me
and for the first time
i offer to buy her a drink
my hands sweating
and she accepts
and i buy her that drink.

I buy her a vodka and coke
and she smiles, thanks me
and walks away
she goes back and rejoins her friends
sits in her seat
and sends a bright smile my way.

An ugly guy like me finally spoke to the beautful girl
she let me buy her a drink
thanked me and sent a smile my way
an ugly guy like me managed to speak to that girl
i've seen her in here everyweek
and finaly i had the guts to speak.

i stand at the bar
waiting for my friends
i hope this isnt the last time i speak to her
i hope she speaks to me again
i hope she will let me buy her a drink again
maybe later on tonight
she will even accept a dance from me.
