That Dance Poem by Josephine Chifundo Likoya

That Dance

Rating: 4.5

Over that night
In the crowd emerged a man
Surprisingly towards me
"Let's dance" could be heard in my left ear
Stood still and wanted to say no
All I remember is we were together on the dance floor

He held my hands like he already knew me
Each song added some fragrance to our dance
I could hear him saying "I like you a lot"
I resisted this voice several times
I tried to tell myself it wasn't true

The more I wanted to forget him
The more his dance styles ring a bell in my head
It won't be wrong
If he asked for that dance again
