That Escape Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

That Escape

That escape

I talk and some wonder
-shy, polite, slander
-avoid words
-I read eyes…all of them
-see each one in own way…

"Why is he like a hay? "
-or a cork, dandelion…

Well friends
-it is life, variance
-memories of expert
-and also, freshness
- (In this age; regardless!)

This one is very hard
-for many to think of
-to digest why is such

And why now I write of?
-a drowned elephant is the cause

"Elephant used trunk…"
-to breathe in the sea
-when taken by the waves

With it saw me in tides
-that early in morning
-everyone was asleep
-except two, he and me
-came over and told me:
- "It is five…"
-he said and I jumped in

And swam and swam
-and saw rigs
-in no time, I would be
-on soft sand of the beach

But things changed; tide reversed
-ahead one, and back more
-in no time, I was lost in the sea
-saw passing dhows and boats
-and whistled…no one heard
-waves and noise of engines

Was sure and confident
-too busy to swim
-had no time to fear
-suddenly came monster
-one of ships that was cage
-for me and my friends,

That small closed cage
-looked like a large mountain
-every side, each angle

Finally, a rope came
-a loop tied to its end
-I knew all the rest
-they told me I was saved
-but in fact, saved were they
-had I died or gone home
-they would be kidnappers
-but with me in their hands…?

Was taken back but this time
-port let us go inside
-and with it came the rest
-everyone sees own way

Must write book, explain
-how rulers are devil
-connections, corruptions
-and the laws broken
-by Russia and Iran and Dubai

Though lucky and free still I
-pay price of those days…
-and the things that followed
-much of what had been made, destroyed
-I lost and same for the colleagues and…
-my hard work, nights and days
-and of course, family's…
