I once looked up with archer’s eyes,
And scanned a moonless night.
To try and count the fireflies,
That brandished their own light.
Yet sadly I could not retain,
Their numbers in my head.
So I decided that I’d gauge,
An estimate instead.
It's tough to measure what you see
When dealing with things of beauty.

Gosh this is beautifully worded. I too have tried to count fireflies- and had to give up on it. Great writing. Love that bit of wisdom you ended on.
