The Abandoned Epiphany Poem by Vadakkumpurath Ramesan

The Abandoned Epiphany

Her lull of the dusk
Skid her sight
But could hear
The vedic chants
And the exclamations of Masha-Allah
Subhan-Allah.
She could sense
The remnants of Temple
She remained forlorn
Unattainable her land
Across the border fenced
And guarded by armed-men.
Her memory dashed back
To the dawn of day din
In the mid of Twentieth century
That marked and witnessed
The brutal divide
Of a culture of colour
Of love and brotherhood
That adorned moon
As seat of Allah
As the Ganga of Siva
The caravan crossed bounds
And she was displaced
And separated from her dreams
And destined to lead
And live a life not of her liking.
She was tempted to forgo
The re-union of her men
And her women
And wailed and wept incessantly.
