The Abyss Poem by Marc Radzyner

The Abyss

תהום לפניך

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth
and the earth was without form and void
and darkness was upon the face of the abyss (Genesis,1)

far upriver the end of the land reaches
the ravenous precipice where waterfall hangs
feeding the void−

I come to the edge, a sign that warns
danger of falling, in Hebrew becomes
abyss before you

rocks here slippery, perilous, wind throws spray
in my face, waterfall booms,

sign warns tehom תהום -
the same abyss
upon whose face darkness was
in the beginning

A well articulated piece of poetry nicely penned with insight. Factual and focussed. Thanks for sharing Marc.
