The Accident That Took You Away Poem by Kelli D. Williams

The Accident That Took You Away

I sat in a field of rain
Remembering how me and you
Would laugh and play
And joke the whole day
Then I remembered the accident
That took you away
Everything that had been good
Broke
And fell to the ground in pieces
My heart flooded
With tears I couldn't cry
My soul flew
To join you in the sky
After the accident
I was nothing but an empty shell
Walking down this trail
Where I was going
I couldn't tell
Everyone that saw me
Knew I was sad
But no one stopped
No one asked
They just kept walking past
Like they didn't care
That I was gasping for air
I was alone
With no one to talk to
No one to help me through
Not knowing what to do
After the accident
That took you away
I cried myself to sleep at night
My world lost all its light
And my life didn't feel right
I prayed to God
To heal the pain
To dry my tears that fell like rain
To help me find the words to say
And to heal the hurt
Of the accident
That took you away!
