The Addict's Sermon Poem by Patrick Szwaja

The Addict's Sermon

Words wrenched from
the chapped addict's lips
Like Desperation said to Misery,
'You and me, we'll go far baby.'
Seconds before the shotgun roar
Stole his gospel from the wind
And the life from her breath.
