I saw them coming
The Adivasi girls
On the eve of Dussehra
When the huge effigy of ten-headed Ravana is burnt
With the fitted crackers blasting
In the fair ground
In the presence of a large crowd and gathering,
Where the worship of the goddess is done
In utter celebration and festivity
Exactly on that day at twilight
I saw them coming,
Playing and singing
The group song
As a mark of tradition
And some money to be given.
