The Adulterous Woman (A Sonnet) Poem by Barry Blander

The Adulterous Woman (A Sonnet)

Jesus walked, came to the Mount of Olives
Sat in the Temple; taught the multitudes,
Searching for the Lord and the grace He gives
Offering up the choicest of their fruits.
'Rabbi, in the act of adultery
She, unscrupulous, was caught and taken.
The Law Moses gave us in history
Commanded that it not be forsaken.'
Jesus stooped to the earth, drew with finger,
'He who is without sin...cast the first stone.'
Would her accusers' depart or linger?
Scribes, one by one, left, compelled to atone.
Jesus, the Lord said, 'Go and sin no more.'
Forever, the Lord Jesus she'd adore.
