The Alien Poem by Ste. Anne

The Alien

I'm not sure how I got here
No memory of where I came from
No crash site that I could ever find
I must have fallen out of the ship
Or was I pushed?
No way to tell.

But here I am
I walk down the street
People aren't alarmed
Some even smile
I'm not sure why.
I'm pretty sure I look like them
Have to remember to swing my arms
Even though it's awkward.

Language was difficult at first
I think I've mastered that
Providing you don't play with words
Or don't mind me wondering
What it means
When you say
You love
me.
