The Ambiguity Of Silence Poem by Jon Ojala

The Ambiguity Of Silence

To the unanswered question,
silence is not an answer.
Although some would argue
Silence's virtue is of itself
a specific response,
both brutally direct
and ominously vague,
confusing to one
who is relying upon
the structure of Civility
to provide a direct response.
Should I write? Should I not?
The silence-giver remains safe,
letting the ambiguity of silence
shape the inference:
yes, no, perhaps, never;
choose one.
Or not.

Yes Jon you have made an excellent point here - - silence can be construed as quite aggresive at times - - - I know the saying from the good book - - -'there is a time to speak and a time to keep silent ' and agreed if the motive is clear we can benefit from silence...... your piece is quite evocative Jon and gives much food for thought.......... thank you
