The American Soldier Poem by Gary Tink Sanders

The American Soldier

Rating: 5.0

I step up
I offer it all
Until my last breath
I provide freedom for all

I have done my best
Freedom abounds
Now I lay with the rest
On Americas hallowed ground

As time goes by
Keep from vane
We spilled our blood
We have no shame

God has blessed
Our blessings have come
Do not forget
Now our work is done

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I felt inspired to write this poem after watching stories of several wounded veterans and talking to a couple friends of mine that are wounded vets. I felt humbled by the dedication that some of our youth have for our country and how they will stand for us and protect our way of life here in America, without these soldiers we would not be able to enjoy the freedoms that have been earned with American blood.
