The Ancient People's Beliefs. Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

The Ancient People's Beliefs.

Spirits whisper in the wind,
Through leaves of green, life begins.
River sings a gentle song,
Earth breathes, where we belong.

Every creature, big and small,
Answers to the Spirit's call.
Stone and tree, a sacred trust,
From the ashes, life is thrust.

Balance sought, in sun and rain,
Harmony, to ease all pain.
Creator watches, from above,
Filled with wisdom, filled with love.

Dreams at night, a guiding light,
Showing truths, both dark and bright.
Land is Mother, kind and strong,
Where we plant, and sing our song.

Sharing hands, and hearts so true,
Helping all, in what we do.
Stories told, by voices old,
Wisdom spun, like threads of gold.

Corn and beans, and squash so bright,
Nourishing us, day and night.
Sweat lodge cleanses, spirit soars,
Reaching for the open doors.

Gifts we give, with open hand,
Blessing all, across the land.
Voices join, in soft accord,
Listening to the Spirit's word.
