Angels make unexpected appearances in my poems, I don't believe in angels in the literal sense but they are wonderful symbols of the wonder of life. They don't have to be true to be real, to indulge in paradox. Those comments are a way of introducing my appreciation of your poem. Your poem is admirably concrete in its language and situation and yet it does not create a stable scene. The angels are both inert statues and almost fleshy beings. They seem to shimmer between substance and symbol. At times they seem almost shy. And even as a reader I feel I am intruding on them, that they weep because of exposure. You could say that's how real you have made these unreal beings. And when you blink and disappear at the end, I can only accept it as a mystery at the core of this poem.
