The Answer Poem by Gauri Gupta

The Answer

Rating: 5.0

The wind blows in my face
I shiver, in the cold
I hear laughter in the distance
As people revel and play

While I stand here alone
Proud and unafraid
I think of the battles won
Of the loved ones lost
And the enemies made

The question burns deeper
And deeper into my mind
As I struggle to find the answer
I struggle to fight back the tears
And to remain undefeated

I turn to the wind again
And ask the question
I turn to the heavens
To show me the light
As the thunder claps
And the rain falls
I find my answer
I know it all

I find few good things in this write... 'Laughter in the distance' shows happiness is away. Wind blowing cold across the face, the poet shivers- a revelation bitter and sour...first stanza is good In the second stanza, the poet goes reflective again on life’s recent past...proud/ battles won...unafraid/enemies- words go very well complimenting each pair The third stanza lines bring in a sudden saddening thought...perhaps, may be what next...as the wind assures a clear sky after a thunder storm, the confusion gets cleared...out look in life to remain positive optimistic always... Easily one among the best of recent newcomer poems... Well-done, Gauri, a 10+ for this poem of yours...
