The human soul is shaped a sovereign tree,
Whose leaves of conduct show a boundless grace;
The sap of wisdom sets the spirit free,
To shade with peace the world's afflicted face.
Bright blooms of virtue on this sacred ground,
Are ripe with fruits of love to heal the blind;
In pools of patience, scorched lives are unbound,
While roots of learning nurse the weary mind.
Though storms of chaos strike the raging night,
A silent crown brings glory to the glade;
Mid fires of hate, the pulse of life stays bright,
An unmarred touch dispels the deepest shade.
Broad leaves of character act as a shield,
This sovereign arbor shall never yield.
