The Artist Is Gone Poem by Marianne Bilicki Remishofsky

The Artist Is Gone

The Artist is gone
Left without a good-bye..
Left paintings undone...
His spirit to fly
Away from this place
To where no one knows;
And hiding his face
From the cold wind that blows:
The Artist is gone.
The Art, it will stay--
For comment and pause,
For striking display,
To point out the flaws;
And it will preserve
The glamour and charm
With further reserve
For silent alarm:
The Art, it will stay.
The Artist is gone--
But I am still here,
There's nowhere to run;
Good reason to fear.
The mystery unsolved,
No brush can I stroke;
And a promise resolved
For my kind of folk
Can never be broken:
The Artist is gone.
